Homeschool Programsprogram

Every other Tuesday, 12:30–2:30 p.m.

These classes are not just for homeschoolers anymore! Science comes alive for kids ages 4–13 in our class series designed for homeschoolers, pre-schoolers, and anyone home on a Tuesday afternoon.

This series alternates Tuesdays with homeschool programs at Carnegie Museum of Art. Click here for more information.

Fee
Each series takes place over six sessions. Registration for individual sessions is not available. Cancellations made before January 24 receive a full refund less a $10 handling fee. Cancellations made between January 25 and February 13 receive a refund less $10 plus the cost of a single class. No refunds may be given after February 13.

Ages 4–5

Natural Wonder
Explore fascinating natural patterns and use objects from nature to create your own designs. Explore the science behind color and texture as you experiment with organic materials like bright red beets, hexagonal honeycombs, and spiral snail shells. Click here to register online.

Peculiar Paleontology
Investigate prehistoric life to the extreme! From gigantic titanosaurs bigger than your house to a micromonkey that could perch on your thumb, get an inside look at exciting discoveries made right here at our museum. Recreate an amazing ancient world by telling stories and making masks of your favorite beasts. Click here to register online.

Ages 8–10

It's About Time
Explore a different mystery from the past every time this class meets. From life before the dinosaurs to the present day, analyze fossils and artifacts that document how life on Earth has changed over time. Document your discoveries in a scientific journal and create artifacts that illustrate your own history. Click here to register online.

Ages 11–13

Energy Exploration
Investigate different forms of energy from fossil fuels to photosynthesis. Experiment with solar and wind power. Develop an energy conservation plan based on the impact you want to have in your world. Click here to register online.
